About me!

Here are nine things about my journey in education. Feel free to drop questions in the comments 🙂
1. I am a product of Detroit Public Schools.
2. I graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics.
3. I spent 6 weeks as a long term sub at a performing arts school in metro Detroit right after student teaching.
4. I’ve taught middle school and high school math: 6th grade, Algebra 1, Geometry, 9th grade intervention, Personal Finance, Robotics, and Honors Algebra 2 (aka Pre-calc because we used the pepper book. IYKYK 😂).
5. I wanted to become a teacher and get my doctorate after participating in Math Corps as a high school student. If there’s a site near you, enroll your kids!
6. I’ve taught in Detroit and on the east coast.
7. I believe that there’s no such thing as “math people” and “non-math people.” I didn’t always feel this way though.
8. I absolutely hated geometry before I taught it. Once I taught it, I fell in love 😍
9. Two of my favorite education books: For White Folks who teach in the Hood and the rest of Y’all too and Mathematical Mindsets.
That’s all I got! See y’all next week 🙂
